We at Nutriscreen Inc. have had good results with our patients using this product and have decided to keep it in stock.

Supplement Summary -

"Are you suffering from a common condition, asthma? Asthma is a lung disease that causes obstruction of the airways. This natural asthma remedy with nutritional supplements is designed to support anti-inflammatory as well as overall positive effects on respiratory health. A combination of B Vitamins, Magnesium, and specially-selected herbs including Coleus forskholi, and Gingko biloba, included in this natural treatment formula for asthma , is targeted at strengthening the immune system, helping to dilate the airways and reducing inflammation."

Animal dander, pollen, food additives, chemicals, fumes, and tobacco smoke - For most of us, encountering such agents is common. Whether at work, play, or at home, these substances can be found everywhere; from the air we breathe to the food we choose to consume. They are so common most individuals forget that they even exist. However, for those who suffer from asthma, these by-products can be dangerous ‘triggers’ that spark an unwanted response known as an asthma attack.

The aforementioned allergens are not the only ones that affect asthma sufferers. In fact, many other environmental and non-environmental triggers have been shown to aggravate this disease. Medications, stress, and exercise exist as potential triggers that can initiate an attack. This makes asthma an extremely difficult condition to manage. In addition, the degree of reactivity (how a person reacts) to a trigger differs from person to person, as does the type and dose of prescription drugs used to manage asthma.

Despite the wide array of complications facing all asthma sufferers, there exists one important principle for all patients seeking to gain the upper hand in combating their disease – nutritional adequacy.

It has long been established that proper nutrition can be a formidable tool in your attempt to manage allergies and asthma. In fact, asthma sufferers are far more likely to suffer from nutrient deficiencies than persons without the disease; especially those nutrients needed to combat a physiological reaction to a given trigger.

Asthma, Defined:

The most simple definition? Asthma is a chronic disease of the airways.  However, this definition is misleading as a number of important features are at play.  The three main features of asthma are:

  1. Airway obstruction
  2. Inflammation
  3. Irritability of the airways

Normally, air moves freely in the airways; the muscles that surround the airway remain relaxed and controlled.  However, in asthma sufferers, the walls of the airways become swollen, irritated, and inflamed.

This inflammation results in an increased sensitivity of the airways.  It is because of this sensitivity that the airways over react or react more strongly to irritants and other allergens known as ‘triggers’.  The airways get narrower when they react to a give trigger and less oxygen is able to pass through lung tissue.  Less air results in a person feeling short of breath and the act of breathing itself, becomes laborious.

The Causes:

The direct cause of asthma remains unknown.  Genetic factors and exposure to certain irritants and allergens early in life have all been proposed.  However, we do know what causes the many symptoms of asthma, as well as the many factors that contribute to an asthma attack.

As stated, people with asthma have very sensitive airways that respond to various environmental and non-environmental based triggers.  Asthma is divided into two types: Allergic (extrinsic) asthma and Non-allergic (intrinsic) asthma.  Stress, exercise, temperature change, and prescription medications are examples of intrinsic asthma.  These non-allergic triggers aggravate asthma or cause an existing attack to worsen. Examples of allergens (environmental triggers) that affect those with extrinsic asthma include, but are not limited to:

  • Allergens: Mold spores, pet dander, and dust mites
  • Irritants: Air pollution, perfumes, and other strong odors (e.g. cleaning solutions)
  • Tobacco smoke
  • Pet Dander
  • Food: particularly preservatives
  • Viruses and/or Infection

Who Gets Asthma:

Approximately 20 million Americans currently suffer from asthma; some 14 million adults and 6 million children.  In fact, asthma is the most common of all chronic childhood illnesses.  The following factors may increase the likelihood of an individual developing asthma.

  • Living in a large urban area (especially the inner city); can increase exposure to environmental pollutants
  • Exposure to occupational triggers; i.e. chemicals used in farming and hairdressing, paint, steel, plastics, and electronics manufacturing
  • Exposure to tobacco smoke
  • Having a relative who suffers from asthma
  • Low birth weigh
  • Having allergies
  • Respiratory infections in childhood
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Obesity

Signs and Symptoms:

The signs and symptoms of asthma vary from individual to individual. As well, symptoms can range from being mildly annoying to being so severe, they are deemed life-threatening.  Some patients will have symptoms once a month, while others experience symptoms only once a week.  In the most severe of cases, an individual can suffer from symptoms on a daily basis.  Nevertheless, the most common signs of asthma include; coughing, chest tightness, wheezing, shortness of breath, and faster or noisier breathing.

There is no cure for asthma.  Because of the troublesome and, at times, severe nature of this chronic disease, managing asthma symptoms and eliminating asthma attacks should be a priority for all sufferersConventional medicines use either quick-relief or long-term control medicines to treat asthma.  However, these pharmaceuticals fail to address underlying nutritional factors that are at play in the disease.

Additionally, the overuse and over prescription of certain medicines (i.e. corticosteroids) has been shown to be counterproductive, and at times harmful, for asthma patients.  Some individuals can develop immunity to steroid-based drugs and this tolerance may actually promote steroid-resistant asthma.

In fact, studies have shown that certain nutritional deficiencies may aggravate asthma.  Additionally, the intake of certain nutrients has been shown to be equally influential on reducing the most troublesome symptoms of asthma, including wheezing.

Advanced Asthma Formula helps by:

  • eliminating its most troublesome symptoms
  • lessening the occurrence of attacks
  • minimizing your use of quick-relief medicines, and
  • helping you to perform physical activities with greater confidence.
